Harold Gobin beaten to death with a hammer in Guyana

the glen lall: Police are looking for a man who beat a 54-year-old vendor to death with a hammer yesterday, after accusing the victim of stealing his cell phone.
Harold Gobin, of Montrose, East Coast Demerara, was attacked and repeatedly struck with a hammer by a man who had broken into his home, at around 06:00 hrs.
All calm in Lusignan?

Guyana Police teargas protesters and school children in Mon Repos
Scores of schoolchildren were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation on Monday after police sprayed tear gas in the vicinity of their private school at Mon Repos 10 miles from the capital.
Principal of the School Jaikarran Jaipersaud told reporters that the children were in their classes when the lawmen shot tear gas over the building.
Relatives of Lusignan massacre call for peace
Georgetown , GINA, January 28, 2008.
Relatives of those killed in the Lusignan attack on January 26, have urged that all citizens particularly those on the East Coast Demerara remain calm and avoid any further disruptive practices.
The relatives urged that residents desist from burning tyres and blocking roadways as such actions do not augur well for the country’s development.
