1/1/2008 8:48:35 AM An American diplomat who was shot while riding in a car in Sudan on Tuesday, died of the injuries caused by the attack. The diplomat, who was shot five times in the hand, shoulder and belly, had undergone surgery and was in stable condition. The incident took place a day after a joint African-United Nations force took over peacekeeping duties in Sudan’s violence-torn Darfur region.
The Sudanese Foreign Ministry identified the wounded person as a humanitarian aid. [diplomat or AIDs worker?]
