Illegal activities from Guyana forces Suriname Nickerie border changes
Kaieteur News: The Suriname Government is looking to make sweeping changes to the border crossing at Nickerie, with the possibility of even closing the current point at Nickerie altogether.
Suriname is also hoping to eventually introduce a swipe-card system to automatically record all incoming and outgoing travellers.
According to the Minister of Judicial Affairs and Police, Chandrikapersad Santokhi, in an interview with Dagblad Suriname, published on March 4, there will be changes to what he described as the chaotic backtrack route at Nickerie.
