Carolan Lynch - in love & moving on from Farouk Razack with a new song
By Mondale Smith
“I miss him every single day at some point of the day…we had a one-of-a-kind relationship, but life goes on. …I’ve put my past experiences, especially the bad parts, behind me and I’m moving on.”
So said reigning Mrs South America, Carolan Lynch, in an exclusive interview yesterday.
The Guyanese beauty queen (Mrs South America 2006) who also holds the Miss Diwali title under her belt, became the subject of worldwide attention following her husband’s, Farouk Razack’s, sudden passing last year; and at one point she was imprisoned, having been charged with his murder.
Now, enjoying freedom again several months ago, she will soon be turning heads again as a catwalk queen.
However, it’s going to be with her voice. As her lawyers continue to finalise arrangements to have her appear on the Dr. Phil show, she let up that she is in studio working on a musical single.
“I’m working on a single with a very popular reggae legend… recording at the Vision Sounds. Meanwhile, my lawyers are still in negotiation with the producers of the Dr Phil show,” she said.
Speaking of the song that will be released in time for CARIFESTA, she divulged that, “The song is about a girl who lives alone, and the guy wants to come over to her place.”
She added that the song will be launched in August for her birthday, and she noted that she will be getting into the charity work she had planned after winning the Miss South America title. To make this a reality, she is employing the assistance of local entertainment promotions group Hits and Jams, and chances are that Gregory Isaacs will be in Guyana for the launch.
In addition, she says, she’s doing a remake of Taurus Riley’s hit single ‘She’s royal.’ But it will be ‘He’s royal’ instead.
“The reason I said life is great is because I won’t claim I’ve changed, but I’ll definitely say I’ve rearranged my life and I always remind myself that there is a God who made me, who is responsible for my wellbeing.”
The mother of one says she learnt many things during her ordeal, chief among them is: “That family is really important, and most importantly, my daughter needs me, so I’ll try to be the best mom possible.”
She informed that she is still single but not alone. “There is once again a special man in my life, and that’s why I’m doing ‘He’s royal.’ ”
When asked about what she has learnt from her ordeal, she said: “I never had an ordeal, it was more of a learning experience.” Noting that life is about choices, she said: “Whatever choice you make, you have to prepare to live with the consequences, and no one can help you through it. They can only make things easier or harder, depending on which side they are on.” When asked if there is a chance that she would remarry, she said: “I wouldn’t say ‘never,’ neither would I say ‘yes.’ ” Currently in the middle of a memoir for publication, she categorically stated that her days are over for representing Guyana competitively.
“I think I represented Guyana well enough, and now it’s time to represent myself…On the same hand, I’m always proud to be Guyanese.” When asked to give a definitive statement about her husband’s death, she said she will do so in her memoir, being produced by local writer Ruel Johnson.
