Guyana dictatorial govt abusing National Insurance Scheme

Dear Editor,
It is appalling that the administration would deem it fit to increase the NIS pension age to 65 years.
As it is with the present age at 60 years, I’m sure that statistics would show that almost 50 % of NIS contributors do not reach pensionable age.
With all the stress put upon us here in Guyana – high inflation, small salaries, 33.3% PAYE, 16% VAT, just to mention a few, people in Guyana will not live to that ripe old age.
But like everything else, our dictator Government would make this the law because they have tasted the sweet of spending NIS monies and will surely want to do so more in the future. So to hell with the working people who will be anxiously waiting to enjoy some of their money from NIS.
The working class people need to take a firm stand against this atrocity.
