CARIFESTA 2008 Guyana - a necessary boycott
Carifesta is for and about the people of this region; the ‘folk’ who remain the foundation and the driving forces of our collective nations. These are the unsung ones, who remember the solid values, the respect, the honesty and the simplicity. They make it their purpose, their raison d’etre to behave as true elders do, and bestow their knowledge and experience on the younger ones. As such, every time this region holds a Carifesta it is deepening its commitment to its people and reaffirming its understanding of the value and power of our collective cultures.
It was with great joy that we greeted the news that the Bahamas refused to host Carifesta 2008 and it was awarded to Guyana. However, given our ongoing Boycott Guyana 2008! campaign we’ve had to apply our boycott to this great cultural event as well.
We’ve encouraged our sister nations to pass on Carifesta 2008 and have provided and continue to provide perspective participants with necessary information on the soci0-political problems, rampant criminality, dangers and related issues on the ground in Guyana.
There will be many more moments to celebrate but at this time we encourage our friends and supporters to Boycott CARIFESTA 2008!
update :: Apr 19 2008
with the ongoing repression in Guyana and the full scale war launched against the people by the dictatorship, we are calling on all interested parties in spreading this message of boycotting Carifesta X.
Guyana’s govt declares war on women
While it dithers and dallies, the administration ignores the plight of the most vulnerable victims of its failed “war on drugs” that has now degenerated into a war on women. The New Amsterdam prison that houses female inmates, is home to some of the most unfortunate prisoners of war ? mothers and grandmothers ? whose first brush with the law on non-violent narcotics charges resulted in their being locked away for years.
Adam Development Enterprises Inc. & Ahmad Group
we wonder if these folks Adam Development Enterprises Inc which is the ‘contractor’ on the latest shady deal going down in Guyana and Ahmad Group are related/inter-related in any way…remember Beharry Group and CGX?

Guyana Water Inc promises new results with old criminals
Of major emphasis in the plan is the reduction of leaks, since half of the water produced and distributed by GWI is lost this way. As a result, Nawbatt said there would be an extensive repair programme.

Guyana govt turns to espionage to silence critics
As the PPP led government unravels due to criminality and incompetence, they’re now turning to espionage to silence their critics at home and abroad. Taxpayers money is now being spent to monitor blogs, websites and forums who don’t give unquestioning support for the criminal regime. These agents are also active in the Guyanese diaspora. The most common espionage technique in use across the board is non-official cover.
