Why would you tell the people to boycott Guyana and not support or attend any Mashramani events? There are many other country that have terrorist and national deserters but Mashramani is a time were us Guyanese people can celebrate our freedom and what we have accomplish for the year. Guyanese could use this occasion to come together and fight against all those who promote division, crime and disunity. A boycott is not the answer, working together is want we need at this point. Of course we are saddened by the events, but a boycott is not needed. You are just anti national.

Telling people to boycott Guyana is plain ignorance but you are entitle to yours. Guyana isn’t the only country on this planet that has crime. Who is boycotting the US, England or any other country with crime, that is human nature people will kill, people will die wrongfully but criticism wouldn’t help. Only a total fool with no sense of reasoning or someone that hates Guyana and Guyanese would say such. You need to look at the situation closely and take your head out of the cloud or are you lying down on it?

  6. February 24th, 2008at 5:00 pm(#)

comrade mel, we don’t live in US or England so those aren’t our primary concerns

we suggest you quit thinking dollar$ like the gov’t and clean your house before you invite guests. we say again, quit thinking dollar$ like the gov’t and clean your house. haven’t you been dancing on the heads of the dead too long?

beyond boycott we say GUYANESE ORGANISE! MOBILISE! RESIST! PROTEST!

what will tourism and celebrations do for the dead and dying? we will keep calling for a boycott until, what are you calling for?

The Guyanese government is doing everything in its power to track down and imprison every person responsible for this horrible act. The last thing they need is the international community to turn their backs on them. For you to boycott the entire country is down right stupid. ‘Propaganda press’ indeed, as the moderators of this site you should be ashamed of yourselves. Why not start a fundraiser to help the people affected? Use your power as ‘press’ and enable these people to help themselves. Start a community crime stoppers. Offer a reward. etc. The act of a ‘boycott’ against the whole country without any reasonable logic is a testament to the pure ignorance of the leaders of this movement. My condolences to the families affected, and the Guyanese government for putting up with bullshit like this site.

  8. March 5th, 2008at 6:43 pm(#)

hello comrade ‘help us not scorn us’ it’s not our job to offer rewards for criminals…and the fact that you don’t see fotos of a ‘fundraiser’ means we don’t have one? quit being silly

we’re free so the Guyanese govt have to ‘put up with us’ what would you rather have them do?

  9. March 6th, 2008at 6:52 pm(#)

I don’t support your Boycott Guyana campaign

I agree with your sentiments. Never mind the psycophants who do not give a damn if Guyana sinks beneath the ocean, as long as they can enjoy the inverse proportionate thrill that comes to some from being part of a ruling ethnocracy. And that is exactly where they are coming from.

People do need to mobilise to change the current vindictive and vengeful mindset that prevails among many in the ruling echelons. Lord Acton must have had a psychic vision of current Guyana when he made the observation that all power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

  13. March 28th, 2008at 7:10 am(#)

beautifully put “the inverse proportionate thrill that comes to some from being part of a ruling ethnocracy”
cause that’s all that’s taking place. a few plunderers at the top are rolling around in their expensive ride and building obscene homes while most of the population wallow in absolute filth, wretchedness and absolute poverty…had it not been for the barrel and the richness of the land, most Guyanese would be starving today…all that GDP financial wizardry on paper is just that. the exodus continues all you have to do is go on down to Camp Road and the line never stops at the passport office and follow those people and see how many are buying one way tickets out of the new and improved ppp hell hole.

Guyanese need to organise, rise up and run these pirates out of town. they are intellectually bankrupt, corrupt, vindictive, tyrannical and money hungry robber barons and pirates. wake up Guyana!

I left Guyana in 1985, still keep in touch with the news and whats happening from time to time. Based on the crime and display of bodies stacked like animals headed to the meat processing plant, I don’t think I ever will return not even to visit. It is very sad indeed.

I was a proud Guyanese but not anymore, I am asamed of my roots at this point.

Astro being ashamed is an easy temptation but you need not be. we just have a bunch of power hungry, corrupt, degenerate clowns who’ve run a.muck but the people will run dem out of town sooner than later.

I believe that these comments reflect the mindset of many of those in power in Guyana, and their support base in the diaspora. They are haters with the same compulsive antipathy towards people of African descent as the Klu Klux Klan and other like organizations. In fact Roger Khan was nothing more than the grand Wizard of the Guyanese chapter working in tandem with his brethren in the Government.
