Special Operation On To Clear East Coast Back-lands Of Criminal Hideouts

The Joint Services today has commenced operations to clear the back-lands on the lower East Coast of Demerara where existing dense vegetations are being used by criminals to hide and escape after assaults on East Coast communities and residents.The Operation entails the removal of all vegetation in the identified areas aback of the villages on the East Coast so as to provide a clear line-of-sight for villagers and security forces.The relevant State and Government agencies would be engaging concerned land owners and others concerned with the back-lands with a view of providing compensation as this Operation progresses.The Government of Guyana is requesting support for the efforts of the Joint Services involved in this aspect of “Operation Restore Order” as they intensify efforts to provide enhanced security to the vulnerable communities on the East Coast of Demerara and all Guyanese.February, 4, 2008
in addtion to the vegation the illegal shops in buxton along the line top should be removed. don’t forget it is thses shops that the poilce and the army are ambushed from.this clearing and removal should have been done a long time ago.
