Palestinians tear down wall between Rafah, Gaza Strip and Egypt

Palestinians walk on a destroyed section of the border wall between Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, and Egypt Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008. Masked Palestinian gunmen blew holes into the Gaza-Egypt border wall Wednesday, and thousands of Gazans trapped in their territory by a tight blockade poured into Egypt to buy food, fuel and other supplies that have become scarce.

Troy Williams - Guyana Defence Force soldier killed in Buxton
payback for torture?
Dead is 24-year-old Troy Williams who took a gunshot to the left shoulder which exited the left side of his chest, according to sources at the Georgetown Hospital last night.
An army pick up brought the bullet-riddled body of Williams to the hospital, accompanied by ranks of the force, all of whom seemed in battle mode, weapons at the ready. Senior army staffer Colonel Bruce Lovell, who was at the hospital, had to urge the ranks to get a grip of themselves.
Brigadier General Saleh Mohammed Hassan killed in Mosul
Brigadier General Saleh Mohammed Hassan, the director of police for Ninevah province, was assassinated by a man wearing an explosives vest under an Iraqi police uniform. A US soldier and an Iraqi soldier were also wounded.
