“We have not been officially informed that a dispute exists with Guyana. If there is one it will be resolved amicably between both parties,” Deyal told Stabroek Sport yesterday.
Deyal’s statement was supported by that of Chief Finance Officer (CFO) of the WICB, Barry Thomas who earlier told Stabroek Sport that there “was no official correspondence from the government of Guyana on this matter.”

Sierra Leone has banned timber exports!!
Sierra Leone has banned timber exports. The Forestry Ministry says foreign logging companies are destroying forests in the country’s north. Rapid deforestation has led to soil erosion, forcing local communities off the land. The ban will be lifted when a policy is introduced to ensure local communities can benefit from logging.

2008 is off to a fantastic start for Common Ground: Since January first we have hosted over 200 volunteers at our headquarters in the Lower Ninth ward. With their help we have been able to drywall two houses and gut four homes as well as an 8-unit apartment building which will provide interim housing for residents returning home. In the latter part of 2007, Dr. Ramsammy boldly announced that Guyanese were consuming alcohol in epidemic proportions and wowed to take steps to curb the crisis. The Minister asserted that alcohol abuse was to blame for increased spousal abuse, rapes and and HIV infection. Twelve yr old repeats torture claims against Guyana Police in Den Amstel court
A 12-year-old boy, who said that three police officers slapped, beat and kicked him faced two of them in court yesterday and repeated the allegations.
The boy, who had been in custody at the Den Amstel, West Coast Demerara police station had made the allegations to Magistrate Fazil Azeez, who mandated that the persons be present in court to hear the accusations.
