Chinese man beaten to death by officials for filming protest on mobile phone
In rural China officials from a public-order enforcement agency beat a man to death after he filmed a protest on his mobile phone. The killing in Hubei province has sparked a national outcry with thousands calling for the agency to be abolished. The victim had stopped to film the confrontation between villagers and officials and was attacked after he refused to delete the footage. Local party officials said those responsible would be brought to justice. The agency has been accused of using excessive force since it was founded 10 years ago.
