Embarassed President Bharrat Jagdeo takes down his congratulatory UN Tribunal Award billboards

President Bharrat Jagdeo recently participated in the UN Summit on Climate Change in New York. And on his return to Guyana on Wednesday of last week, he immediately ordered the prompt removal of all billboards highlighting congratulatory remarks on the Arbitral Tribunal Award concerning the delimitation of Guyana’s maritime boundary with Suriname.
The billboards’ message is inconsistent with President Jagdeo’s address to the nation on the matter of the Arbitral Tribunal Award on Thursday, September 20, 2007.[sure it is Prem] In his address, the President re-marked that on the fundamental issues, while Guy-ana’s interests and objectives are fulfilled, he is not suggesting that he is triumphalist.
However, one commentator, instead of trying to discern the truth, has initiated the process of building theories based on false premises; one of this commentator’s false premises implies that the Head of State may have issued orders for the installation of these billboards; this premise is totally false.
