Victims of American sponsored Cubana 76 terrorist bombing remembered in Barbados
It was 30 years ago on October 6, that 73 Cuban, North Korean and Guyanese citizens, lost their lives in a terrorist bombing, just off the coast of Barbados. Their bodies still lie here in Barbados and a commemorative statue in the shape of a pyramid, bearing all of their names, tells the tale of the murder of these citizens. The monument is located in Paynes Bay, St. James, almost opposite of the Paynes Bay Methodist Church. About 30 persons were flown in for the occasion, in collaboration with the Government of Cuba, a number of them representatives of the victims families.
The locals here in Guyana are finally doing something to honour the 11 guyanese who died in the bombing. well kinda…had a ceremonial sod turning at a proposed monument site. The Cuban Embassy here has also unveiled a monument in their compound.
