Rwandan war criminal free & chilling in Germany
Ignace Murwanashyaka, head of the Rwandan Democratic Liberation Forces (FDLR) rebel movement based in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), was released on April 27, three weeks after his arrest in Germany.
Rwanda, which accuses the FDLR of having a hand in the 1994 genocide, among other things, is demanding that he either be tried or extradited. Since November 2005, Murwanashyaka has been on a UN list restricting the travel of several war lords operating in the DRC. The prosecutor for the International Criminal Court has said he is conducting his own investigation. For the time being, Murwanashyaka is under court supervision in Germany.
