Residents in the area heard the gunshots and immediately tried calling the police nearby but
without success. According to reports, contact had to be made with the BV Police Station which then contacted the East La Penitence police station which reported that it had no vehicle. And once again there were reports of the police 911 number not working. Stabroek News was told that numerous calls were placed by residents to the number and when it was not busy it was ringing out. This has been a recurring problem which the police appear unable to resolve.

ISLAMABAD, April 28: The Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (Rawa) staged a protest rally here on Friday marking the April 28, 1992, control of Afghanistan by “Islamic fundamentalists”.

Ugandan troops and tanks fighting in Congo
“We know that the Ugandan troops who came into the Congo are well armed and have tanks. There is fighting going on in Garamba National Park (50 km, or 30 miles, west of Aba),” the source reportedly said. “Their firepower is superior to ours in the area,” he said, adding Uganda’s Foreign Minister was expected to come to Congo soon to discuss the situation.
